Heathermeg Again !

Heathermeg - Artist - West Auckland - The Art Bunker !
It's always an inspiration to pop into 'The Art Bunker' and discover what this fabulously creative genius is busy creating.... I'm convinced that Heathermeg even creates ideas, designs and magic in her sleep !
Heathermeg has been featured on my Blog before, but here, the latest pics of Heathermeg at work two days before Christmas, are showcased. She was putting the finishing touches to a vibrant tablecloth decorated with Pohutukawe Flowers, berries and leaves. I had just 'downed tools' at the office for my Christmas break... what better way than to have a soul-renewal pit stop  at The Art Bunker...en route home !

Oh to be a Dragonfly !

Seeking Poetry on Immigration!!

'South Africa Landscape- The majestic Drakensberg'

Hello World of Creative and Artistic Beings

I am seeking poetry on Immigration for a selection of poetry in my book -
'Scatterlings- A tapestry of Afri-Expat Tales.'

'Our previous life'
I am an immigrant from South Africa living in New Zealand.
'Redefining the self'
However, any poetry written by an Expat (not just Saffers in NZ) - which emblemises the profundity of the epiphany,
of crossing the metaphorical Rubicon,
of a rebirth into a new life - a redefining of the SELF,
of the pangs of sadness and loss,
juxtaposed against the new delights and the expansion
of the terrain; geographically and in one's inner mental,
spiritual and emotional landscape would be considered for publication.
'New Friends'
                                                                                                                                 'New Doorways'

'New Vistas- New Horizons'

Pohutukawa Trees - NZs indigenous Christmas trees are aflame !

The Pōhutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) is a coastal evergreen tree in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae, that produces a brilliant display of red flowers made up of a mass of stamens. The Pōhutukawa is one of twelve Metrosideros species endemic to New Zealand. Renowned for its vibrant colour and its ability to survive even perched on rocky, precarious cliffs, it has found an important place in New Zealand culture for its strength and beauty and is regarded as a chiefly tree (rākau rangatira) by Māori.[1] (Wikipedia).

Sunday 4 December 2011

11 minutes past 11 a.m. on the 11th of November 2011 !

JUST FOR FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11.11.11.11 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Please be patient for the pics to download... Thanks.... It may take you 11 seconds   ! :)
For some bizarre reason... I suddenly had the compulsion to gather photographs and happenings from around the world which had occurred at precisely 11 minutes past 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year in the 21st Century. It really felt like a poignant moment in time for me.
Herewith are some of the things which folk documented at that time around the world, starting with New Zealand, (where I live), and where we experienced 11.11.11.11. first. Other photos are from Australia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, South Africa, United Kingdom and USA.
My thanks to the good sports out there ! One took her pic at 11.11. p.m. and another at 11 a.m on the dot, but the rest of the pics were 11.11.11.11 in their own specific time zone !
My experience was very funny indeed. I dashed out from the office to the coffee shop next door. I couldn't find any special work colleagues around at the time (bearing in mind that we are 'field workers' in the schools; hence out the office more than in...) so it was a solar happening. I dashed in to the coffee shop, BBs and greeted 'Nin hao' to the Chinese barista and asked, 'Please, I need my flat white trim milk coffee in exactly two minutes time, so please hurry !'  He looked a bit thrown. Coffee arrived. Pic taken. Me happy as Larry, sipping my foamy coffee, though sad to miss the moment with my work mate, Jo, whose a good sport. Next thing, Manageress comes out ' Nin hao...what is ploblem ? You say HULLY, len you take picture...Waiter he welly wollied...'  Ah, I smile... ' No problem. I am very very happy.  The coffee came on time and it is pretty, so I took a picture...' And I proceed to explain about 11.11.11.11
Manageress... 'Ah, if I know you take picture I put pletty pictures on coffee and give you muffins...' My wonderful little 11.11.11.11 interlude to cherish always. I will remember her lovely face.

I also snapped this pic within the 11.11.11.11 minute to show where I live;
the country that won the Rugby World Cup with its iconic All Blacks team !

From Sheena Hayes - Milton, South Otago, New Zealand -
Sheena captured her two Labradors, Storm and Chaka  frisking
in the garden at 11.11.11.11

From Vylia van Biljon in New Zealand - she captured these exquisite colours at  11.11.11.11 and titled her photograph 'MOMENT'.

From Sonja Goedeke - She was working at home, and shot out
to capture her garden in Orewa, New Zealand at 11.11.11.11

" THE ARRIVAL OF 11.11.11.11 APPROACHING AS I SIT STILL WITH MY CAMERA
 IN HAND WATCHING THE TIME....
The waves lapping 5ft from me is the only sound I hear as I sit on my own at my 'private beach'
in New Zealand.  The beauty and perfection of the scene of yachts and ocean is indescribable.
The tranquillity and peace of mind I have here is like no other I have ever felt anywhere.
This calms my soul. Out of nowhere a canoeist and his dog come into my life and my frame.
No warning.  I'm on my own but I'm not alone. "
Sherilee Clarke -  Beach Haven Wharf, North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand

Renowned Artists Heathermeg & Byron from the Art Bunker
(West Auckland) captured in this pic with friends and family -
theirs was at 11.11.11.11 as in p.m. not a.m. - They would NEVER be conventional !   Auckland, New Zealand
Titled' Who are these gorgeous people?'
"There were 11 of us (to add to the 11.11.11 bit), but two 'passed out' on the ground in front of me, so only the good looking ones remain in the photo.. hope you had a good night too, Eve. Cheers Heathermeg."

" Hiya Eve,
Two photos from York – called ‘for whom the bell tolls1 + 2’ – taken within the 11/11/11 minute,
the first is of the courtyard at York St John University, which just 8 minutes before the photo was
full of people observing the two minute silence. The second is just through the entrance on the
‘other side’ looking towards the Minster, whose bell ‘Big Peter’ tolls the time for us all (and tolls onwards for some time after midday for peace).

Cheers,
Jacqui "

Sharon ( in green) and her medical team colleagues were captured in this pic at 11 0'Clock on the 11.11.11 at The Physicians & Surgeons Surgical Hospital where they work -
Monroe, Louisiana, USA.

Glyn Macaskill at the majestic Clock Tower -  Louisiana Tech University, USA,  11.11.11.11

A few people around the globe managed in the mayhem
and madding rush of life...to find a moment at 11.11.11.11 to capture their moment in celluloid at 11.11.11.11- as that precise time came to their place on mother earth; thus bringing us together in a moment of time, which in essence spanned twenty four hours commencing in New Zealand and finishing in USA, like a stellar Mexican Wave of connectivity.

Thanks to all the participants....Your special moment of sharing is much appreciated !
