Are you a story teller, a poet, a lyricist or a collector of fine recipes with a traditional flavour from Africa ?


Are you a 'scatterling' who lives abroad - an Afri-Expat (or refugee) who misses your African footprint, has adapted elsewhere, but still has little pulls in your heart ? - Pulls for the wide open spaces, the veld and vleis, the koppies and bergs, the rivers and seashores of Africa... the wildlife, the ethnic art, clicking voices and places...? Are some of these memories forever entrenched in your soul ? 

Then you may be someone who would like to share a snippet of your expat story; a page or two, a poem or a recipe for my book in the making - "Scatterlings - A Tapestry of Afri-Expat Tales... " 
I am still seeking people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, religious affiliations and (most) mind sets, who grew up or saw Africa as home, and now live elsewhere in the world... the more scattered the better - who'd like their voice heard in my book.... the cut off date for submissions in around the end of April  ! So do get those type writers clicking away>>>

Heathermeg Again !

Heathermeg - Artist - West Auckland - The Art Bunker !
It's always an inspiration to pop into 'The Art Bunker' and discover what this fabulously creative genius is busy creating.... I'm convinced that Heathermeg even creates ideas, designs and magic in her sleep ! 
Heathermeg has been featured on my Blog before, but here, the latest pics of Heathermeg at work two days before Christmas, are showcased. She was putting the finishing touches to a vibrant tablecloth decorated with Pohutukawe Flowers, berries and leaves. I had just 'downed tools' at the office for my Christmas break... what better way than to have a soul-renewal pit stop  at The Art Bunker...en route home !

Hello World of Creative and Artistic Beings

I am seeking poetry on Immigration for a selection of poetry in my book - 
'Scatterlings- A tapestry of Afri-Expat Tales.'

'Our previous life'
I am an immigrant from South Africa living in New Zealand.
'Redefining the self'
However, any poetry written by an Expat (not just Saffers in NZ) - which emblemises the profundity of the epiphany, 
of crossing the metaphorical Rubicon, 
of a rebirth into a new life - a redefining of the SELF, 
of the pangs of sadness and loss,
juxtaposed against the new delights and the expansion 
of the terrain; geographically and in one's inner mental, 
spiritual and emotional landscape would be considered for publication.

Pohutukawa Trees - NZs indigenous Christmas trees are aflame !

The Pōhutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) is a coastal evergreen tree in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae, that produces a brilliant display of red flowers made up of a mass of stamens. The Pōhutukawa is one of twelve Metrosideros species endemic to New Zealand. Renowned for its vibrant colour and its ability to survive even perched on rocky, precarious cliffs, it has found an important place in New Zealand culture for its strength and beauty and is regarded as a chiefly tree (rākau rangatira) by Māori.^{[1] (Wikipedia).}
