Waiheke Island just off NZ coast - the 'Arty farties' paradise !

Waiheke Island is a 40 minute ferry ride from Auckland city, else one can go from Half Moon Bay in East Auckland to catch the car ferry and have your own wheels on this island, which is part of Auckland city.
If one goes from the city there are scooters to hire and buses run efficiently to many parts of the island. Others sail across and then paddle from their anchored yachts ! Auckies and Waiheke's think it's their best kept secret, but of course they welcome tourists as tourism is one of their primary income sources.

Waiheke is a place where artists, musicians, actors, writers, photographers, sailors and creative souls enjoy to hang out, create and inspire. It's not surprising !
The beauty of the island and its isolation from the major city stressors makes for a plethora of creative juices to flow abundantly. And they do !

The island is famed for its galleries, art, sculptures, alternate modalities, wineries, eateries and creative festivals and exhibitions.

Enjoy one of my favourite haunts in pics !

We celebrated with all our fantastic family from SA and NZ at a gorgeous 'bach' on Waiheke ... Note the bandanna island vibe ! This is after 8 pm in the evening, watching the sun setting... in this little paradise !
